Supervision for research for a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) is offered in most subject areas taught at Victoria. The PhD is examined by thesis after a period of a minimum of three years of supervised research at Victoria. However, PhD theses normally require more time than this.

The PhD thesis is a major piece of original research. Word length varies according to the nature of each project, but something like 60,000 to 100,000 words is typical. According to the PhD Statute, a PhD thesis ‘demonstrates the candidate’s ability to carry out independent research’ and must also be ‘a significant contribution to the knowledge or understanding of a field of study’. As well as intelligence and research aptitude, the degree requires considerable dedication and tenacity.

On completion, the thesis is assessed by three examiners, usually one from Victoria, one from another New Zealand university and one from an overseas university. For some PhDs, in particular those in science, this is followed by an oral examination

Leptospirosis- Toxic infection from rat urine

WE ALL DO IT!

Received an email from my md..

A woman went boating one Sunday taking with her some cans of coke which she put into the refrigerator of the boat.
On Monday she was taken to the hospital and placed in the Intensive Care Unit. She died on Wednesday. The autopsy concluded she died of Leptospirosis. This was traced to the can of coke she drank from, not using a glass.
Tests showed that the can was infected by dried rat urine and hence the disease Leptospirosis. Rat urine contains toxic and deadly substances.
It is highly recommended to thoroughly wash the upper part of soda cans before drinking out of them.The cans are typically stocked in warehouses and transported straight to the shops without being cleaned. A study at NYCU showed that the tops of soda cans are more contaminated than public toilets (i.e.) full of germs and bacteria.
So wash them with water before putting them to the mouth to avoid any kind of fatal accident.


As a woman especially we have to be EXTRA careful with foods and so and drinks we will be serving to family. Its simply because sometimes they might forget to wash their hand(pnumonia risk can be reduced!) or clean the stuff properly. It apply to all ketchup bottle, sauce tube, toothpaste tube,mayonnaise or mustard tubes, canned foods or drinks, biscuit,tea, coffea and cake tin)

Eventhough sometimes they might argue with us( just because they want us to explain or in other word 'membebel') but believe me they are trainable!

Night with a baby..

Apology for the long delay between updates. Well, it happens sometimes since there's a lot of things to be done and the process is in another word.. slow.hehe .I hope everyone had a greta weekend last week.
At about 3 am this morning, heard Faheem laughed and tried to play peek a boo(his favourite game),although now he has moved into a version of hide n' seek mixed with peek-a-boo. Eventhough it was in the dark, I could still saw him struggling to put the duvet over my face, pulled it then he laughed out loud and gave me a big great smile. Oohh what a beautiful smile he has! Again for the second time, I wake up to layan faheem instead of continuing my sleep.
After nursing (again!) then he spent about half an hour crawling around in the bed in the dark while my husband was on the left side to make sure he won’t fall off the bed. Then finally he fell asleep (he almost always needs to nurse to fall asleep).
We co sleep as well so that makes it a little easier. Usually both of us will take turn palying with faheem(but normally papa at the end will wake me up during his turn saying 'yang xlarat yang, ngantuk sgt..kalu xtidur abg ni xleh drive rasanya esok ni'.. so hati isteri mana la yg xkesian dgr sang suami kata gitu tp esok paginya masa pi keje surely nyenyak ku tidur dlm kereta .setengah jam tu) .

I think it is normal for babies(oops I shouldn’t have called faheem baby anymore, i suppose) yes, toddler to wake up at night.
But there is one thing I am sure which is he won't be baby(or toddler) for ever.
I know one day I'll look back on these days and be all nostalgic.

The reason why I open this blog is because sometimes I may want to give comments to bloggers 'out there' such as my friends, students and especially my hubby..hehe.

The other reason is, I would like to exchange ideas or info with them while at the same time I could also express my idea or knowledge yg xseberapa ni especially in breastfeeding, islamic banking and education (locally as well as internationally) area.

In this blog I will be using malay, english, arab,indonesia and mandarin languages. (sbb tu je bahasa yg ana tau tp takde ler rasenye ke tahap expert). So guys I will need to learn from those who are willing to teach me :)

So hopefully Allah will guide me towards the right pathway.Ameen
